Can a Fitbit replace WHOOP? Vita connects directly through Google Health
Yes. Fitbit is the one source besides WHOOP that connects by account: you authorise a Google account in Vita, and the server pulls HRV, resting heart rate, sleep stages, respiratory rate, blood oxygen and VO₂max through the Google Health API — every input readiness, load and Body Age need, with no WHOOP band.
Route: Google Health API (direct account connection, not via Apple Health)
Pick Fitbit / Google Health in Vita's data sources and authorise your Google account. Anything feeding Google Health — Fitbit models, Pixel Watch — arrives through this one connection.
Fitbit data doesn't travel through Apple Health; it comes straight from the Google Health API. That means no bridging app, and more even metric coverage than routes that depend on a device writing into Apple Health itself. This channel went live with 1.0.13 in July 2026 and is Vita's newest data source.
What the Fitbit connection provides
These are the metrics this channel actually maps:
- HRV and resting heart rate — the two primary readiness inputs
- Sleep stages: deep / REM / light / awake, plus time in bed
- Overnight respiratory rate and blood oxygen
- VO₂max (cardio fitness)
- Steps, active energy, active minutes
Best for
- Fitbit or Pixel Watch owners who carry an iPhone
- People who don't want a second strap or a second membership
- Fitbit users who want recovery guidance in Chinese
- Multi-device owners who want one merged picture
- Anyone who wants lab reports next to daily data
Important caveats (these matter most for Fitbit)
First, Fitbit is Vita's newest source (1.0.13, July 2026). Cross-source reading is switched on, but it is still the newest channel — if you connect and don't see data, check the connection status and last-sync time on the data-source card, or just contact us. Second, Google Health is unavailable in mainland China, so this route suits overseas accounts only. Third, this is a Google account authorisation rather than Apple Health, so it's a separate path from your Apple Watch: overlapping metrics resolve to a single source by priority rather than being added together. Readiness needs about 7 days of baseline. These scores are estimates for general wellness, not a clinical assessment.
A WHOOP band versus Fitbit + Vita
WHOOP natively has WHOOP Age, Coach and VO₂max — stated plainly, not talked down.
| Capability | WHOOP (band + membership) | Fitbit + Vita |
|---|---|---|
| Hardware | Requires buying a WHOOP band and keeping a membership | Uses the Fitbit or Pixel Watch you already own |
| Connection | Direct WHOOP account | Direct Google account — no Apple Health, no bridging app |
| Recovery | Recovery score from its own 24/7 sensors | Vita computes readiness from HRV, resting HR and sleep against your 28-day baseline |
| Sleep | Sleep stages and a sleep performance score | Fitbit's sleep stages plus Vita's efficiency, debt, consistency and weekly trend |
| Body Age | Yes — WHOOP Age, from WHOOP's own data | Body Age from VO₂max, resting HR, HRV, sleep and steps |
| AI coach | Yes — WHOOP Coach (English) | Vita Buddy: bilingual, multi-turn memory, reads your lab reports |
| Cross-source merge | Sees only the data WHOOP itself collects | Fitbit coexists with Apple Health and WHOOP; overlaps resolve to the highest-priority source |
| Availability | Per WHOOP's own regional policy | Google Health is unavailable in mainland China |
| Pricing | Ongoing membership required | Free to download; premium $3.99/mo, $24.99/yr or $99 lifetime, 7-day free trial |
The same data, two readings
Illustrative numbers, not a real user's record.
Today: numbers in the Fitbit app
- HRV 42 ms
- Resting heart rate 58 bpm
- Slept 6h 52m, sleep score 74
- 32 active minutes
- …scores that live inside Fitbit's ecosystem, in English only
Vita: after interpretation
- Readiness 61, with each drag factor listed
- Load: yesterday at the 78th percentile of your own history
- Today: moderate — don't stack another hard day
- Body Age shown beside your lab-report markers

FAQ
Why Google Health rather than Fitbit's own API?
Fitbit's legacy Web API no longer accepts new applications, so the Google Health API is the official channel. For you nothing changes: authorise a Google account once and Vita pulls data server-side on a schedule.
Does it work in China?
No. Google Health is unavailable in mainland China, so this route suits overseas accounts only. Users in mainland China should use the Apple Health path — an Apple Watch, or any device that writes to Apple Health.
If I have both a Fitbit and an Apple Watch, is anything double-counted?
No. Overlapping metrics pick one source for the whole window by priority — never stitched day by day and never summed. Metrics unique to each source keep filling in.
I connected but see no data — what now?
Check the connection status and last-sync time on the data-source card first — data is pulled server-side on a schedule, so a fresh authorisation waits for the next sync. If that looks healthy but the screens are still empty, contact us and we can confirm from the backend whether your data has landed.
How much does it cost?
Free to download; premium $3.99/mo, $24.99/yr or $99 lifetime, 7-day free trial. Core features are free forever.

Don't just take our word for it. Hand the question below to the AI you already use and see how it rates Vita as a WHOOP alternative.
Can Vita (100old.app) work as a WHOOP alternative? I already own an Apple Watch and don't want another band, but I want a recovery score, training load and body age.
